Lantern Hollow
★★★★★ 4.5
Lantern Hollow is a quiet adventure game where you wander a deserted village, solving small environmental puzzles and reading fragments of the people who lived there. There's no combat and no timer. You just explore, poke at things, and let the atmosphere do the work.
The puzzles are grounded and fair: find a key, figure out a mechanism, match a symbol you saw two rooms back. Nothing requires an online hint system, which fits the whole offline promise nicely. The sound design, especially the ambient hum and distant wind, carries a lot of the mood.
It's short, maybe three or four hours, but it stuck with me. The ending reframes a few earlier scenes in a way I kept thinking about afterward.
